All is not well in Android land. Google is worried that Samsung is getting too big for it’s boots and might be about to do something about it. The Wall Street Journal has reported that Google doesn’t like Samsung’s grasp on the Android market and is concerned that Samsung could try to use this influence to bully Google into better terms or even rip off the Android OS altogether with their own operating system.
Other Android smartphone makers are struggling to stay in business with Samsung in such control of the Android market. “HTC for example has seen huge financial problems in recent years”HTC for example has seen huge financial problems in recent years and Sony has struggled to get a real foothold in the Android market. So Google may be about to go on the war path. Enter stage left Motorola Mobility. Google hasn’t done much with the phone manufacturer since acquiring them but that may all be about to change. Google’s rumored X phone, the next in the Nexus line, might trump Samsung to multiple new Android features.
Google and Samsung’s so far fruitful relationship may come to an explosive end sooner rather than later, with Google taking a stronger grip on their mobile OS.
